Line-up

Turn Back, the band's third studio album, was an attempt to return to the classic sextet structure and an even more consistent and powerful effort with a harder edge. Its edgier sound reflected the maturation of the group and included drummer Bobby Kimball's increased virtuosity on drums, and a more confident, mature vocal delivery from singer Joseph Williams. Keyboardist David Paich's work also was sharper, more intricate and less cloying than previously recorded efforts.

After touring to promote their album, the band recorded an Amsterdam live performance that was released on Eagle Records as a 2-CD set entitled Falling In Between. The group released their new studio album a few months after and embarked on a tour around the world to support the album.
