WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades provide a guaranteed boost to specific stats. Each upgrade increases the level of the item by +3. Each upgrade also boosts a random substat.

Upgraded gear generally sees greater value for trade as long as it meets low requirements (like the FB sorc's shield) or has a high stat variation (like Eth titan weapons). These types of gear get less value from upgrading due to the requirement to roll to get a perfect version.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader lets players upgrade their gear by giving the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any type of armor or weapons. However, the item used for the upgrade will be consumed for the duration of time and cannot be used again. Upgrades can also be applied to the enchantments.

You can upgrade your gear anytime by visiting the upgrader in any major city. To ensure that your equipment is up-to-date it is recommended you visit the upgrader each few weeks.

The cost of upgrading will vary based on the current level of the gear being upgraded, but will always be less expensive than purchasing new equipment from other sources. For instance upgrading a Benthic chest to 385 ilvl will cost 20 recycle points while purchasing the same item from another player will cost 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are useful items which can be used to improve the quality of weapons, tools, armor, and other items. Players can purchase them through NPCs who sell upgrades to item owners for a variety of currencies. They are also available on random treasure lists. Once an upgrade is purchased it can be applied to any weapon, tool, or armor using the help of button, which displays an item's preview at the next upgrade level in the event that the player has enough materials.

The cost of upgrading is based on the slot of the item upgrader kit and current item level upgrade (learn the facts here now) level as well as the level of the weapon, which is more than gloves or bracers for instance. Each step costs 15 Flightstones and a number of crests, with certain upgrades having a discount to lower the cost of the Flightstones or the crests used. Once an item has been upgraded to a certain amount, it can be degraded and sold back to the upgrader for a lower amount of both currencies.

Many locations have upgraders for their items, including the main Island and a few outposts. The NPCs provide both an upgrade coupon and the possibility of getting the latest recipe. The discount for upgrading increases as more items are upgraded. It can be increased by having players finish certain achievements or quests.

In contrast to Cromwell in Baldur's Gate II, there is no upgrader for items available in the beginning of Icewind Dale. Instead the NPCs that are available to facilitate upgrades must be acquired through a variety of means, which is both an improvement but also a drawback.

In Season 3 the upgrade system was tweaked a bit, with numerous new features added. Once a player obtains an upgrade to a specific level of an item upgrading for a specific armor slot, upgrading further items to that same item level will be less expensive, even in the event that they are part of an entirely different set of gear.

The discount is applicable to all accounts. In the same way, the amount of Harbinger Crests required to upgrade is also reduced and is not available until players reach certain milestones in their achievement.

Crests

Players have a variety of choices when it comes to upgrading their gear in WoW. Flightstones are an option that is accessible to all players for upgrading. Crests are more special and are used for specific item level upgrades. Crests are a key element of the Dragonflight gear progression system that was introduced in 10.1, and come in four ranks.

The first thing to be aware of is that crests can only be spent on equipment that is of a particular rank, and that every rank has different requirements for its upgrade items path. The simplest and most straightforward upgrade path costs 15 crests, while the most complicated may require as many as 20 crests depending on the kind of gear being upgraded.

Players can obtain crests by finishing content at the appropriate level, whether that means walking around and doing outdoor activities for gear of lower tiers, raids or dungeons with all difficulties for higher-tier items or Mythic+ dungeons or heroic raid bosses to obtain endgame gear. These crests can then be exchanged at an upgrader NPC like Cuzolth in Dornogal or Vaskarn in Valdrakken to get the appropriate upgrade routes and steps.

Utilizing these new currencies isn't too complicated however, the system will introduce a few changes to the overall upgrade process. For example, once an item is at the highest upgrade level of any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic) it won't require Flightstones to be upgraded. This change is intended to allow players to upgrade their equipment up to the highest level possible on all their characters rather than relying solely on seasonal loot.

It's also crucial to choose crests with care, since they have only one purpose. It is recommended to use your Whelpling-rank crests on the highest-quality gear that you can find and keep Drake and Wyrm Crests to be used for the next set of upgrades. This is particularly true for items such as rings and trinkets that occupy several slots. The discount on the account is only applicable when all slots on the character are filled with high-quality gear.
